Get involved and make your initiatives knows to others The International Day Against Homophobia is an event that gathers people to combine efforts to fight homophobia. All organisations, institutions, and individuals are invited to set up events in their communities. May 17 is a special time to act in a concrete manner to fight homophobia. From year to year, an increasing number of organizations and individuals are putting together a host of different initiatives. In January ot this year, Dalhousie's Human Rights Office and Dal Allies facilitated diversity training with athletics staff at Dalhousie University. A key component to this training included awareness of issues facing LGBTQ identifying athletes. This session was followed up with a 1.5 hour information session facilitated by tow LGBTQ identifying athletes who spoke about their experiences participating in sports at local, national and international levels.
